Lutsk uniqueness:
1. In Lutsk you can see one of the seven wonders of Ukraine - Lutsk Castle or Lubart's Castle. It was never captured by the enemy. In addition, it is one of the five most beautiful fortifications in the country.
2. Lutsk is the birthplace of European diplomacy, because, in January 1429, the Congress of European Monarchs took place there. It aimed to resolve political and economic issues of Central and Eastern Europe and was accompanied by loud festivities, which are annually reproduced by the festival "Princely feast".
3. Art in Lutsk is a separate topic. And even if you are not interested in its directions and trends, just visit the corners of the Lutsk Art Festival “Triangle”. The Korsaks' Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art is the largest museum of national art in Ukraine and it is really beautiful and modern. In the Museum you will meet the rarities of the Renaissance, the only ones in the museum collections of Ukraine.
The Museum of the Volyn Icon will open for you one of the oldest images of the Mother of God in the world - The Kholm Icon of the Mother of God (XI century). It is said to be a robe of four icons painted by the Apostle Luke.
4. The House of Sculptor Mykola Holovan was included in the "TOP-5 extravagant buildings of Ukraine". The artist is called a local Gaudi, and even Oxford school textbooks wrote about it!
5. The largest Catholic church in Ukraine, the Lutsk Cathedral Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, recently turned 400 years old.
6. The dungeons near the Peter and Paul Church are among the five most mystical ones in Ukraine. Ancient legends state that under the Old Town there is a whole network of rooms and corridors that connected Lutsk with neighboring settlements.
7. In Lutsk, heralds also performed the functions of city guards and firefighters, and they were called Klykuny (tower guardians), because they performed a kind of ritual “calling”. Arriving in Lutsk today, you can hear the trumpet sound from the Entrance Tower of Lubart Castle. Today you can get in the city on an interesting tour - a quest and try to find all tower guardians.
8. Lutsk inspired Lesya Ukrainka, as she wrote her first poem "Nadiya" here. And you can still sit under the ash tree, near which little Lesya composed her first rhymes. Today it is one of the oldest ash trees in Ukraine. It is interesting that its age is over 200 years!
9. The first Ukrainian all-terrain vehicle, LuAZ 969M, with the popular names "Volynyanka", "Banderivka", "Volyn Fighting Vehicle", assembled in Lutsk, entered the top ten best cars in Europe at the Turin Auto Show in Italy in 1978.
10. The world's longest residential building was built in Lutsk. Its total length is 3,265 meters, and along the axis - 1,750 meters. It has 170 entrances and more than 3,000 apartments. About 10,000 residents live in this house. The uniqueness of the house is also that the shape of its plan resembles a honeycomb.

12. The first and only museum of bells in Ukraine is located in Lutsk. Today his exposition includes more than 90 bells. The oldest dates back to March 1647, the same age as Bohdan Khmelnytsky. The heaviest weighs almost half a ton, and the smallest - only a few centimeters high and in ancient times was intended for a mail carriage.
13. Former Princess of Siam (Thailand) Na Phitsanulok comes from Lutsk. Her name at birth was Kateryna Desnytska. She was the daughter of the head of the Lutsk District Court Ivan Desnytsky, whose grave is located in the cemetery of the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
