The first public transport vehicles in Lublin were... the horse-drawn omnibuses. Nowadays, 290 buses and 108 trolleybuses are in use of the 12 trolleybus lines, 59 bus lines and 3 night service lines. The public transport in Lublin organisation, Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego ZTM Lublin (Public Transport Authority) served 123.000.000 passengers in 2017. Lublin is one of approximately 350 cities in the world that have a trolleybus system. In Poland, trolleys are available only in 4 cities: Tychy, Gdynia, Sopot and Lublin. For the passengers' safety, most of the vehicles have the surveillance cameras installed inside.

Zero emission policy

One of the main issues of the ZTM policy is an environmental protection by increasing the Lublin residents’ awareness of the public transport benefits. Thanks to the modernizations, ZTM Lublin has reached 30 per cent level of zero emission vehicles.

Trolleybuses

Lublin is one of three cities (Gdynia and Tychy) in Poland where trolleybuses are operating, with the largest trolleybus network. The first trolleybus ride took place on July 21st, 1953. All of the trolleybuses are low-floored and zero emission policy adapted.

Transport accessibility/Improvements

For people with disabilities convenience, most of the vehicles have a special button installed next to the door which once pressed, calls the driver immediately. The driver helps to get on and off the vehicle. Also, the vehicles have the special seats provided for pregnant women, older and disabled people and a special space for the baby trolleys or the wheelchairs.
